Connect Aourly to Fortnox and let the two systems talk to each other automatically. Instead of entering the same invoices, customers, and accounting data twice, the integration keeps everything in sync so you can focus on your actual work.

What is Fortnox?

Fortnox is Sweden’s most widely used cloud-based accounting software. It handles bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, and more. Most Swedish accountants are familiar with Fortnox, which makes it a natural companion for Aourly.

Why connect Aourly to Fortnox?

When you create and send invoices through Aourly, the integration automatically pushes that data into your Fortnox account. This means:
  • Invoices you create in Aourly appear in Fortnox without re-entering them
  • Customers are synchronized so your client database stays consistent
  • Vouchers are pushed to Fortnox for proper bookkeeping records
  • Accounts and financial years are pulled from Fortnox so Aourly uses the same chart of accounts your accountant works with
The result is less manual work, fewer mistakes, and accounting that is always up to date.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • An active Fortnox account with API access (most plans include this)
  • Owner-level access to your Aourly company
  • Your Fortnox login credentials handy

Connecting Fortnox

Step 1: Open the Integrations page

In the Aourly sidebar, click on your company name to open the tenant menu, then select Integrations. This page is only visible to company owners.

Step 2: Start the connection

Click the Connect Fortnox button on the Fortnox card. Aourly will redirect you to Fortnox to authorize the connection.

Step 3: Authorize Aourly in Fortnox

On the Fortnox website, log in if prompted. You will see a list of the permissions Aourly needs. Review them and click Grant Access to authorize the connection.

Step 4: Return to Aourly

Fortnox redirects you back to Aourly automatically. A success notification confirms the integration is active.

Step 5: Configure account mapping

Once connected, Aourly imports your chart of accounts and financial years from Fortnox. Go through the account mapping to verify that revenue accounts, VAT accounts, and other key accounts are correctly linked. If you are unsure about which accounts to map, consult your accountant. Getting this right from the start avoids bookkeeping headaches later.

Step 6: Verify the connection

The Integrations page now shows your Fortnox status as Connected. You can see when the last sync occurred and trigger a manual sync at any time.

Managing the connection

Viewing connection status

The Integrations page displays the current status of your Fortnox connection, including when the last successful sync occurred.

Disconnecting

If you need to disconnect, click Disconnect on the Fortnox card. Data that was already synced remains in both systems. No new data will be synchronized after disconnecting.

Reconnecting after expiration

Fortnox authorization tokens can expire over time. If this happens, Aourly displays a warning on the Integrations page. Click Reconnect to go through the authorization flow again. Your existing data and mappings are preserved.

Troubleshooting

Authorization expired: Re-authorize by clicking Reconnect on the Integrations page. You do not need to reconfigure account mappings. Sync errors: If an invoice fails to sync, check that the customer exists in both systems and that the account mapping is complete. Aourly will retry failed syncs automatically. Missing accounts: If you recently added new accounts in Fortnox, trigger a manual sync from the Integrations page to pull the latest chart of accounts.
