After registering your Aourly account and verifying your email, the next step is creating your company. Your company is the central workspace where all business activity happens — clients, gigs, time tracking, expenses, invoicing, and bookkeeping are all organized under it.

Before You Begin

To create your company in Aourly, have the following information ready:
  • Company name — Your official business name as registered with Bolagsverket
  • Organization number (organisationsnummer) — Your 10-digit business registration number from Skatteverket
  • VAT number (momsnummer) — If you are registered for VAT
  • Contact details — Email, phone, and business address
  • Country — Your country of registration
Tip: Your organization number is your foretagets organisationsnummer from Bolagsverket. If you have not registered a business yet, see the Swedish Business Rules article in the Knowledge Base.

Step 1: Start Company Creation

If this is your first time in Aourly after registration, you will be automatically prompted to create a company. If you are adding an additional company, click the tenant menu in the header and select Create Company.

Step 2: Enter Your Company Name

Enter your official company name. This is the name that appears on invoices sent to clients, official documents, and the tenant switcher if you have multiple companies. Use the exact name registered with Bolagsverket. For a sole proprietorship, this is typically your name followed by the business type.

Step 3: Enter Your Organization Number

Enter your Swedish organisationsnummer — the unique 10-digit identifier assigned to your business. The format is XXXXXX-XXXX.
  • For aktiebolag (AB), handelsbolag (HB), and other company types, this is the number you received when you registered your company
  • For enskild firma (sole proprietorships), your organization number is the same as your personnummer (personal identity number)
Warning: This number appears on all invoices you generate and is legally required for business transactions in Sweden. Make sure it is correct.

Step 4: Add VAT Number

If your company is registered for moms (VAT) with Skatteverket, enter your VAT number. The Swedish VAT number format is: SE + organization number (without hyphen) + 01 For example, if your organization number is 559123-4567, your VAT number would be SE559123456701.
Tip: Not all businesses are required to register for VAT. You may be exempt if your annual taxable revenue is below 80,000 SEK. If you are not VAT-registered, leave this field empty.

Step 5: Add Contact Details

Fill in your company’s contact information:
  • Email — Your business email address, used as the sender for invoice communications
  • Phone — Your business phone number, appears on invoices
  • Address — Your registered business address including street, postal code, and city
These details appear on invoices and are important for legal compliance.

Step 6: Set Country and Currency

Select your country (defaults to Sweden) and primary currency (defaults to SEK). The country setting affects default VAT rates, invoice formatting, and bookkeeping conventions.

Step 7: Save and Continue

Click Create to finalize your company setup. Aourly creates your workspace and takes you to the dashboard where you can begin adding clients, gigs, and tracking your work.

After Creating Your Company

With your company set up, here is what to do next:
  1. Complete your profile — Add your personal details and photo
  2. Add your first client — Set up the clients you will be billing
  3. Create gigs — Define the work you will be tracking
  4. Invite team members — If you work with others, invite them as coordinators or performers
  5. Configure integrations — Connect Fortnox or Visma for automated bookkeeping
The onboarding wizard on your dashboard guides you through these steps. See the Onboarding Guide for a complete walkthrough.

Creating Additional Companies

You can create multiple companies in Aourly. This is useful if you run more than one business, want to keep different types of work separate, or are transitioning from one company to another. To create another company:
  1. Click the tenant menu in the header (shows your current company name)
  2. Select Create Company
  3. Follow the same steps described above
